Capture the lighthouses in Bretagne, France

Bretagne is the land of history and lighthouses! We will bring you in the heart of Bretagne, we’ll visit the most beautiful lighthouses on the coast near Brest. We will take photos at sunrise and sunset where possible. The photo tour is all about getting the most from your photography in Brittany and enjoying seeing the outstanding lighthouses, like Phare du Petit Minou, and Pointe Saint-Mathieu.

Dawn over St Malo Lighthouse

Bretagne is France’s lighthouse country, home to the most iconic examples all along its rugged coastline. Some of the lighthouses in Finistère are in the National Heritage (Monuments Historiques): we will try to visit some of these lighthouses; Pontusval in Brignogan, Île Vierge in Plouguerneau, Phare du stiff in Ouessant, Créac’h lighthouse on Ouessant island, Saint-Mathieu lighthouse in Plougonvelin, and Kermorvan lighthouse

Phare du petit minou in Plouzane, Brittany, France

Lighthouses and buoys

The Ushant Museum of Lighthouses and Buoys sits at the foot of the Créac’h lighthouse and houses its gigantic lens. Other exhibits include coal-powered lanterns, Fresnel lenses, electric arc-lamps. In total there are 800 objects going back over three centuries of technological developments. Models, photos and videos give an insight into the construction of some of these legendary sentinels and the lives of their keepers: a history that deserves respect.
